Initially the firm focused on private client and property matters, acting for many literary and aristocratic characters that trusted a firm based in the heart of London’s cosmopolitan literary quarter. However, by the mid 1980’s the firm’s position in the commercial arena had developed, in particular becoming well known for its insolvency and debt recovery work, resulting in an enviable reputation within the profession.
Moon Beever was founded by William Moon, a Victorian lawyer and businessman.
Mr Moon first began practising law in Lincoln’s Inn Fields in 1851 and was succeeded by his son, William (Billy) Moon.
Billy Moon was not only a lawyer but a goalkeeper for the England national football team and wicket-keeper batsman for Middlesex.

Whilst proud to have provided legal services for almost 170 years, Moon Beever's current management is committed to ensuring that the firm continues to adapt to the times. In 2012 we relocated to modern offices near to Gray's Inn (for Chancery Lane) and have invested heavily in information technology and systems. Moon Beever now offers a modern and responsive approach to the provision of legal services, whilst continuing to deliver excellent results that make commercial sense.
We continue to place great importance on investment in people, both in terms of relationships and training, which are the cornerstone of the firm’s success. We work hard to maintain an inclusive, tolerant and supportive working environment at Moon Beever. Our staff enjoy what they do and this enables them to provide the best possible service to our clients. Our lawyers are experts in their chosen fields of practise and the firm is committed to the continuing development of all staff.
