One of the awards she presented was the Sabin Award for outstanding contribution to the Industry, won this year by Dr Stephen Baister, chief bankruptcy registrar and president of the CICM. He was a very popular choice in the industry having served with huge integrity and acted always in the interests of justice.
The award, named in memory of Nick Sabin, former chief executive of the Insolvency Practitioners' Association, is given to individuals whose service and achievements go beyond the call of duty. Frances Coulson herself received the award in 2012, which highlighted her commitment to promoting the profession, lobbying to ensure the tools of rescue are not damaged by government, and pursuing fraudulent directors to recover money for creditors.
This year the awards dinner attracted more than 500 attendees and was hosted by broadcaster Daisy McAndrew, previously economics editor of ITN.
