Former UK head of legal, Angela Cobbina, who is black, sued the bank saying she was subjected to discrimination.
Tribunal judges dismissed the discrimination aspects of the claim, while saying that her dismissal in September wasn’t fair. The tribunal upheld only one of the more than 40 allegations made by Ms Cobbina.
Unfair dismissal compensation is capped at around £74,000 whereas compensation for discrimination is uncapped.
The tribunal has not yet given written reasons for its decision nor has it made any comment on the issue of costs.
