Probate & Contentious Probate

Administering the Estate of someone who has died can often involve obtaining a Grant of Probate or Letters of Administration before the assets of the estate can be realised. Within the department, we have a great deal of experience in advising executors and administrators dealing with the administration of an estate, including providing advice about Inheritance Tax, negotiating with HM Revenue and Customs and Deeds of Variation. We are also able to advise in relation to securing the release of overseas assets.

Unfortunately, the administration of an estate is not always straightforward, particularly when there is a dispute in relation to the validity of a Will, or when a Will is challenged by someone who has not received sufficient provisions from the Estate. We are experienced in dealing with contentious matters such as these, recognising that such disputes are often very stressful for the persons involved. With that in mind, we seek to resolve such matters quickly and effectively, including using alternative methods of dispute resolution where appropriate.
